Play-offs first leg results

On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain Handball pulled off a great result, winning the first leg of the EHF Champions League play-offs away to Szeged (30-31). Check out the rest of the results from this preliminary knockout round.

German teams on fire

In the rest of the matches, the German sides did well, with Berlin odds-on to make it through to the quarter-finals. Despite facing the might of Kielce in Poland, the Foxes dominated the match... or more specifically, the second half! Trailing by two goals at half-time (30': 14-12), the visitors produced an exceptional final 30 minutes to win by six goals (27-33). This result puts them in a more-than-favourable position ahead of the return leg. It was almost the same story for Magdeburg, who travelled to Bucharest, but a four-goal win (26-30) left the 2023 European Champions with some regrets. With less than 20 minutes to go, they had an even more impressive lead (42': 17-24).

Nantes can believe

For their part, Nantes managed to limit the damage. Trailing by up to six goals (43': 22-16) and well troubled by an eight-from-eight by Przemyslaw Krajewski, the French team managed to keep their hopes alive by leaving Poland with a deficit of only three goals (28-25). There is no doubt that The H can count on their fervent home support to try to turn around a tough situation that is nonetheless not as tough as it might have been.
