Paris dominate in Chartres

Match reports

Paris Saint-Germain Handball beat Chartres 27-34 in their Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 6 clash on Sunday afternoon. Here's a look back at the win that enabled Les Rouge et Bleu to continue their perfect start to the league season.

Paris Saint-Germain Handball travelled to Chartres on Sunday for Liqui Moly Starligue Round 6. With five wins from their first five matches this season, the Parisians had a clear objective: take both points at the Halle Jean Cochet and continue their unbeaten run in the league.

The start of the game was marked by a solid defensive display from both sides; the two goalkeepers were particularly effective in keeping the opposition at bay (6': 2-2). As the first quarter-hour approached, the capital club took the lead thanks to a powerful shot from Elohim Prandi, for whom it was already his third goal of the match (15': 5-6).

Les Rouge et Bleu spared no effort to extend their lead, forcing Chartres to call the first time-out of the match (17': 5-8). But the stoppage in play did nothing to trouble Raul Gonzalez's men. They went seven minutes without conceding a goal, and duly carved out a handy lead (21': 6-12). Serious throughout the first half, led by an imperious Andreas Palicka (ten saves), our players returned to the dressing room with a substantial advantage (30': 10-21).

Kamil Syprzak continued his fine form after the break, scoring his seventh goal of the match to maintain the capital club's lead (36': 14-24). The Parisians did not let up in the second half, and the outcome of the match seemed sealed as money-time approached (49': 19-30).

On the final play of the game, Andreas Palicka rounded off his excellent performance with a 17th save - his personal best in the league (60': 27-34). With this win, Les Rouge et Bleu continued their unbeaten run in the league and deservedly remain at the top of the table. Next up, on Wednesday, they welcome Aalborg to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin for their EHF Champions League Matchday 5 fixture, before hosting Saran in the league at 17:00 on Sunday.
