Paris clinch precious win in Denmark

One week after an excellent win over the Danes in France (41-26), Paris Saint-Germain Handball took on Gudme Oure Gudbjerg Handball (GOG) in EHF Champions League Matchday 8 action in Denmark on Wednesday evening. It was a great opportunity to open a gap ahead of third place and to strengthen their position. But to do so, they had to defeat a very tough opponent!

The game started with a very good rhythm and Les Rouge et Bleu proved inspired in front of the Danish goal (6': 3-5). Among the Parisian gunners, we saw that Kamil Syprzak was once again in sparkling from! He allowed his team to make the break (13': 7-10), and hills he did so, Andreas Palicka saved two penalties and the capital club were in the driver's seat at the quarter-hour mark (16': 8-12).

Raul Gonzalez's men controlled the game well and continued to increase their lead (21': 12-17). Even when the Parisians shot wide, the hosts struggled to take advantage because of Jannick Green, who wins several duels in the Parisian goal (25': 15-19). At the break, despite a Danish fight-back, our players were still threw goals to the good.

Ad the second half began, GOG made up a good part of their deficit and came back to within a single goal (36': 23-24). The Parisian rearguard was pushed to foul and conceded several temporary sendings-off and penalties (39': 25-27). But Nikola Karabatic was able to cut through the noise and give his team a three-point lead (41': 25-28). The storm seemed to have passed, and after a missile from Dainis Kristopans, Les Rouge et Bleu went five goals to the good (43' 25-30) and they thus approached money-time with a little more serenity (47': 28-33).

With less than 10 minutes left, the Parisians were still in a good position (52': 31-37). In front of their fans, the Danes tried a final comeback (55': 33-37), but were once again confronted with the combined efficiency of Dainis and Kamil (57': 33-39). A few minutes later, Paris Saint-Germain Handball won and secured a seventh European victory in a row! They thus took top spot in group A, previous leaders Veszprém having tasted defeat in Zagreb (29-26).
