Our internationals prepare for the Euros

A few days before the start of Euro 2020, which will take place from 9 to 26 January in Sweden, Norway and Austria, the various teams and their Parisians are finishing preparations.

Golden League (France, Denmark, Norway)
As is the case every year, several European teams are preparing for international competition by taking part in the Golden League. Once again, Paris Saint-Germain Handball players from the French, Danish and Norwegian national teams competed against each other in the second stage.

The Experts, including Luc Abalo, Vincent Gerard, Nikola Karabatic and Nedim Remili (but also future Parisians, Yann Genty, Mathieu Grébille and Elohim Prandi), got their tournament off to a perfect start with a big win against Serbia. On Friday evening, in Metz, Didier Dinart's men went on to win (40-26), thanks in particular to eight goals from Nedim.

The task was a little more complicated on Sunday against reigning world champions Denmark. At the AccorHotels Arena, the two teams, who know each other by heart, fought an epic battle. The Scandinavians (30-31) finally won the match, with Mikkel Hansen scoring six goals in the process.

A few days earlier, Mikki was facing another of his club-mates as he took on Sander Sagosen's Norway. The two Parisians finished with eight goals apiece, but in the end it was Mikkel and his team-mates who won (28-26). On Sunday, Sander again shone on an individual level, scoring nine more goals in Norway's 38-28 victory over Serbia.

Tournament of Spain (Spain, Poland)
For their part, the Spaniards were preparing for the Euros, taking part in the Tournament of Spain. Viran Morros and Rodrigo Corrales's La Roja took on Kamil Syprzak's Poland, and while Syprzak's side suffered three defeats against Russia (25-30), Portugal (34-27) and Spain, the Iberians had a completely opposite trajectory, with three wins in as many games.

First, they defeated Portugal (30-25) in Torrelavega with a goal from Viran Morros (who received an award from the Royal Spanish Handball Federation before the match). A few days later, despite Kamil's two goals, Poland could not cope with the excellent performance of Rodrigo Corrales (35-21). Spain ended their fine performances with a final victory over Russia (32-34), well led by the future Parisian Ferran Sole Sala (three goals).

Our left winger, Gudjon Sigurdsson, also shone with four goal for Iceland, despite suffering defeat against Germany (33-25). Finally, Kim Ekdhal du Rietz did not take part in Sweden's defeat by Egypt (27-28). Tuesday evening, at the Estrad Alingsas, the second round will take place.
