Nikola Karabatic: 'There is danger everywhere'
On Saturday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball travel to Ivry for their Lidl Starligue: Round 5 clash. Before the match, Nikola Karabatic sat down with us to answer a few questions!
Psg.fr: Against Toulouse (41-35), you maintained your strong form. Are you satisfied with your performance?
Nikola Karabatic: It was an important match, with a victory against a good team who often cause us problems. It's good to have won and to have played well, especially as we had many absentees. We followed on from our win over Saint-Raphaël, which was a good performance. We had to get back on track after our difficult start.
Do you feel that the team is better than a month ago?
We were already very good. Against Flensburg, we had a good first half and we were confident until our machine broke down. That made us doubt ourselves and we followed up with defeat against Meshkov Brest. After that, we were able to bounce back and put in some good performances.
The new Lidl StarLigue season looks like it will be tight...
It will play out on details... We saw Montpellier snatch victory in Nîmes, after missing several penalties. Nantes were also held in check, as was the case for us against Aix. The level has gone up another notch, so we'll have to be at our maximum to get this title.
So it will be necessary to be careful in Ivry?
Yes! There is danger everywhere. That's what makes this championship exciting and the title even more precious. Every weekend we have to give our all to win. That's what motivates us. If we lose focus in Ivry, things can turn and go in the wrong direction really quickly...
