Nikola Karabatic is Parisian until 2024

Paris Saint-Germain Handball is pleased to announce the extension of Nikola Karabatic's contract for another season. The three-time Olympic champion is now contracted to the Club until 30 June 2024.

Since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain in July 2015, Nikola Karabatic has won the French championship every season (7 times) but also three Coupe de France, three Coupe de la Ligue and two Trophées des Champions. He is the most successful player in the history of the Starligue (14 times). With the club from the capital, the number 44 has played 279 matches and scored 1,009 goals.

With the French national team, the Nis (Serbia) native scored 1,274 goals in 346 appearances. He has won every possible trophy, making further history in August 2021 by becoming Olympic champion for the third time in Tokyo. Only eight French athletes have won gold three times at the Summer Olympics.

Nikola Karabatic has also been voted best player in the world three times (2007, 2014, 2016) by the International Handball Federation (IHF). In the history of the sport, only he and his former teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Mikkel Hansen, have achieved such a feat.

« Paris Saint-Germain prides itself on signing the very best athletes across all our sporting disciplines. Nikola Karabatic’s contract extension is great testament to that, and it is fantastic news for Paris Saint-Germain Handball and our fans. Nikola is a true icon of world handball, having defined the sport across borders and generations with passion and professionalism. I am very proud he’ll be playing a ninth season wearing the Rouge et Bleu jersey, as we continue to build the leading multi-sports club in the world. »
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President-Director of Paris Saint-Germain

"My desire and that of the Club has always been to extend this joint history, which began in 2015. Over the years, we have demonstrated that Paris Saint-Germain is one of the world's leading handball teams. I am very happy to have the opportunity to play for this team until 2024. I will continue to give my best for my teammates and for the fans. We still have some great things to achieve together."
