11th league title for Paris Saint-Germain Hanbdall
After defeating Pays d'Aix Université Club Handball at the Accor Arena on Friday (39-36), Paris Saint-Germain Handball have been crowned champions of France 2024 - the 11th French league title in their history and a record-extending tenth in a row.
It was an historic evening, with 14,840 spectators in the stands - an unprecedented number for a French championship match - and a vibrant tribute to Nikola Karabatic, who is bringing his legendary career to an end. With 27 wins from 30 matches, Raul Gonzalez's players won the 11th championship in the Club's history. Les Rouge et Bleu improved on their own record of consecutive titles and have dominated the Liqui Moly Starligue for a decade now.
Paris Saint-Germain Handball won the Trophée des Champions in September, making it the Club’s ninth season with at least two titles. This is the 24th trophy won by the Club since it was bought by QSI in the summer of 2012. During this period, the Parisians have won 11 French championships, five Coupes de France, three Coupes de la Ligue and five Trophées des Champions.
"Tonight, our handball team made all Paris Saint-Germain fans proud. With a great deal of passion, talent, determination and solidarity, our players and staff have once again written a beautiful page in our history. This tenth consecutive French league title is a further demonstration of our consistency and performance at the highest level, which is the example set by all the Paris Saint-Germain teams. We congratulate the whole team and pay special tribute to Nikola Karabatic, who marks the end of his incredible career with this fantastic final achievement for Paris Saint-Germain."
