Luc Steins: 'We're taking on the best teams in the world'

Check out what Patrice Annonay, Luc Steins and Adama Keita had to say after Paris Saint-Germain Handball's 29-31 victory in Szeged as the 2023-24 EHF Champions League group stage got under way.

PATRICE ANNONAY (ASSISTANT COACH, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL):

"This match was a real battle. We knew it wasn't going to be easy. Szeged are a very good team, with a lot of physical intensity. But we were able to respond tactically, especially in defence. We also had the excellent Jannick [Green] to count on. In the second half, we were a little more tired and had a few shooting errors. That gave them a boost. It was a real Champions League match. We came here to pick up points and we've done that. There is plenty of the season left to go. It was important to win here to gain an advantage. Especially here, where Szeged aren't going to lose often. We're very happy to kick off our European campaign with a win."

LUC STEINS (PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL CENTRE-HALF):

"In the Champions League, we're taking on the best teams in the world. So obviously it's difficult to win. Especially away against a team like Szeged, who also have a great crowd. Despite our opponents finishing well, we didn't panic. We allowed them to come back by missing too many shots. We need to put that right for the next game. Everyone was able to play and that's really satisfying. So far we haven't lost, but we need to stay focused and keep it that way."

ADAMA KEITA (PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL LEFT WINGER):

"It's always complicated when you play away in the Champions League. And against Szeged, it's always tough, so we expected a big fight and that's what happened. We're happy to have won and to have taken all the points with us. We've had an ideal start to the season, but it's still early days. We want to keep going in this direction.
