How our internationals are faring

During the international break last week, several Paris Saint-Germain Handball players turned out for their national teams - take a look at their results!

FRANCE/SPAIN

Several members of Les Rouge et Bleu were facing each other. In a preparation double-header, Paris's France internationals (Vincent Gérard, Nikola Karabatic and Benoît Kounoud) were up against clubmate Ferran Solé Sala. The first match, held at the AccorHotel Arena on Thursday, was won in style by Les Bleus (44-33). A success in which our players played key roles, like Vincent, who racked up nine saves (including an exceptional double save) - as well as a goal. Meanwhile Benoît fired a 2 from 2.

On Saturday, La Roja took their revenge at Le Phare in Chambéry. Perfectly led by a Ferran at 100% (four out of four), Spain got the better of France. After a complicated first half (30': 13-16), Guillaume Gille's men almost made up the deficit, but finally lost by one goal (31-32).

NETHERLANDS

Luc Steins will unfortunately not see the next World Cup, which will be held in Poland and Sweden from 11 to 29 January 2023. The Netherlands won their first play-off match against Portugal. Thanks to two goals from our centre-half, TeamNL was leading by three points at half-time (30-33). But they were not able to confirm this good result on home turf in Eindhoven. Despite Luc's four goals, the Portuguese turned the tables (28-35) and booked their ticket to the next World Cup. The Dutch have not been there since 1961.

POLAND

As co-hosts of the next World Cup, Poland are already qualified so they are took advantage of the international break to start preparations. And how better to do so than against the defending champions, Denmark. "You have to lose some matches before you become champion!" This is the message that could be read on our four-goal pivot Kamil Syprzak's socials after the match. Indeed, the Poles did not manage to break down the Scandinavians (for whom Mikkel Hansen and Henrik Toft Hansen were missing) but they will keep on working!
