Henrik Toft Hansen: 'Always happy to play at Coubertin'

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball host Créteil in their Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 4 clash. Check out our interview with Les Rouge et Bleu pivot Henrik Toft Hansen.

Last week, you had a tough match in Toulouse (35-27)...

"It was very difficult. Toulouse played very well and we made too many mistakes. Obviously, this result did not make me happy. A season is very long and the championship is not easy. I'm happy that we were able to bounce back against Magdeburg [22-29]."

And you follow up quickly against Créteil...

"It will also be tough. But we're lucky enough to be playing at home. I'm always happy to play at Coubertin. Our supporters are incredible and will help us to play at our best level."

Do you feel that the championship is getting harder and harder?

"Yes, especially as all the teams want to beat us. Even more so since we went 30 for 30 last season. Every game is tough in this league."

The winning streak has finally come to an end. What's that like?

"It was a very good run. But even during that whole time, the games were tough. We won several times by the skin of our teeth. I'm happy to have been able to accomplish this feat and I hope to start a new run soon."

This is your last season with us. How are you feeling?

"This is my fifth season here and I am very happy. The club is at the top level and I know everyone well. I am playing with a lot of joy. I know that this is the last time I will play against these opponents. I hope we can finish the season with the title! After several years abroad, I am happy to be able to return to Denmark."

You will have a chance to see Mikkel Hansen again...

"Yes, and I hope I can beat him [laughs]. I just want to have fun. I'm 35 years old, so I know I don't have many seasons left."

You'll leave France speaking good French!

"It took me a long time to understand that. I listened a lot the first year. Then I started to try to speak, even though I still make a lot of mistakes. It's difficult for a Dane, but I've made progress."
