Group A results

Paris Saint-Germain Handball drew with Kolstad on Wednesday evening (28-28). Check out all the other results from EHF Champions League Group A's Matchday 8.

Aalborg - Kiel : 27-27

One of the clashes of the week was between the top two teams in the group, Aalborg and Kiel. After their fine performance a week earlier at the Wunderino-Arena (18-27), Aalborg had a chance to win the second leg against the Zebras and take sole possession of the lead in Group A. But the Germans lifted their game and came very close to exacting revenge (50': 20-26). It took an incredible comeback from the home side to pull level (57': 27-27) and, after a spectacular finish with Mikkel Hansen missing penalty and Niklas Landin saving at the buzzer, the two teams played out a thrilling draw. Kiel therefore remain at the top of the table, one point ahead of Aalborg.

Pelister - Zagreb : 27-28

Here too, the suspense lasted a very long time. In front of their home crowd, the Macedonians came very close to unlocking their points tally against a Hungarian side that has been bouncing back well in recent games after a tricky start. After a fine first half (30': 12-15), the visitors were in with a chance of a third-straight win... but it wasn't to be. Pelister made up ground and equalised with 40 seconds remaining (59': 27-27). Finally, after a missile into the top corner from Zoltan Szita (who duly earned a place in the Top Goals for Matchday 8), the Croatians clinched a precious victory that takes them three points clear of the drop zone. The Macedonians, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table with zero points.

Kielce - Zagreb : 28-24

Finally, Kielce welcomed Zagreb to their Hala Legionow to round off the European week. It was an eagerly awaited clash, following the draw between the two sides a week earlier in Croatia (22-22). The second clash of this double-header proved to be a tight affair, with neither team having managed to get the better of the other before the break (30': 12-12). But the last 30 minutes were perfectly managed by the Poles. Led by Szymon Wiaderny's 5 from 6, the Yellow and Blues made the difference and collected another two points in their campaign. They are now in third place, one point clear of Paris and one point behind Kiel. Zagreb remain seventh, with six points.
