Five things on PSG Handball - Nîmes

2020-21 Lidl Starligue champions Paris Saint-Germain Handball wrap up their domestic season with the Round 30 visit of Nîmes - a special match for many reasons!

1 - The table
After their victory in Cesson-Rennes on Wednesday (28-34), Les Rouge et Bleu are officially Champions of France! Indeed, with a three-point lead over nearest rivals Montpellier (a record 53 points compared to Montpellier's 50) they can no longer be beaten to the finish line. Our players will thus be celebrating the title with their supporters in this last appearance of the season at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. For their part, USAM will try to secure a place in the top four. To do so, they will have to win in the capital and hope for a slip-up by Aix, who travel to bottom side Tremblay. The two teams are currently tied on 36 points.

2 - The good-byes
This match will not be the last one of the year, as the Parisians will participate in the EHF Champions League Final4 in Cologne next week. But it is the last day of the Lidl Starligue season and therefore the last appearance at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin for two of our players: Dylan Nahi and Viran Morros. The former joined the senior squad aged just 15, during the Eurotournoi, in which he managed to score. Since then, he has progressed in leaps and bounds and has even played for France! Spanish international Morros joined our team in 2018 and quickly became the boss of the defence. No doubt both players will want to leave their home arena in the best possible way!

3 - Key stats
For this last match of the Lidl Starligue season, we should see an attacking festival, as two of the best attacks in our league face off. Nîmes have scored 824 goals in 28 games and have the fourth-best offensive line in the Lidl StarLigue; Egyptian right-winger Mohammad Sanad is their top scorer with 153 goals. Les Rouge et Bleu, meanwhile, have some very good strikers (Nedim Remili on 128 goals and Mikkel Hansen on 124), giving them the most prolific attack, with no fewer than 971 goals scored in 28 games. In fact, they could be the first team in history to reach the 1000-goal mark if they manage to score 29 times against USAM.

4 - Head to head
This will be the 30th time these two teams have faced each other in the championship. This fixture has often gone Paris Saint-Germain Handball's way, with 20 victories and only seven defeats (two draws). Since September 28, 2018, and a draw at Le Parnasse (28-28) with four goals by Elohim Prandi for Nîmes, the capital club have won every single match, with the most recent dating back to last November. After going blow for blow for most of the match (52': 25-25), Raul Gonzalez's men finished the game very well and won in style (27-31). Vincent Gérard was also involved in this success, making 11 saves.
