Ferran Solé Sala: 'Many objectives ahead of us'

After the victory against Chartres in the Coupe de France quarter-final (35-37), Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to the EHF Champions League and the Liqui Moly StarLigue. Raul Gonzalez, Nikola Karabatic and Ferran Solé Sala gave us a few words as the action resumes.

RAUL GONZALEZ (PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL COACH):

How do you judge the team's first part of the season?

"We have done a good job, both in the league, where we will have the opportunity to play Nantes and Montpellier at home, and in the Champions League. There too, we will have to host our co-leader, Veszprém, on the last day. We will prepare ourselves well for the next round."

Do you think that the Liqui Moly StarLigue is always getting stronger?

"Absolutely. Everyone wants to win and is getting stronger in order to do so. Last season we clinched the grand slam, which means that our team is very strong."

Is the goal to finish in the top two in EHF Champions League Group A?

"It's an advantage if you can do it, but you still don't know who you're going to play against next. We would have more rest, because there would be no round of 16, so that would be a good thing."

NIKOLA KARABATIC (PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL LEFT-BACK):

How do you look at your first part of the season?

"It is positive. We started badly by losing the Trophée des Champions, then in the Liqui Moly StarLigue against Toulouse. But we have bounced back well, and at mid-season we are equal with the leaders of the EHF Champions League. We have lofty ambitions and we want to win something big."

How do you feel about returning to competition with Paris?

"I feel great! I just have a pain in my foot since the World Cup, which prevents me from getting back on the court immediately. I'm going to treat it carefully so I can be operational as soon as possible.

FERRAN SOLÉ SALA (PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HANDBALL RIGHT-WINGER):

Are you happy to be back in action with Paris?

"Yes, there are many objectives ahead of us and none of them is easy. We saw it in our Coupe de France quarter-final against Chartres, where it was very close (35-37). We have to continue to play well like we did in the first part of the season."

The EHF Champions League resumes on Wednesday against Zagreb. How are you approaching this return to European action?

"The Champions League is always a bit more special than other competitions. First of all, we have to finish in the top two of the group to go directly to the quarter-finals. But before that, we have to beat Zagreb. There are only four games left and if we win on Wednesday, we'll be one step closer to our goal."

Are you also looking forward to seeing the crowd at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin on Sunday against Dunkerque?

"Yes, of course! It's been almost two months that I've been playing away games. It's going to be good to be back in front of a crowd that will support us."
