Ferran and Mikky on top of the world

Two Paris Saint-Germain Handball players shone particularly brightly during the 2021 World Championship in Egypt: Mikkel Hansen and Ferran Solé Sala, both of whom earned a place in the tournament's Best 7.

As usual, Mikky really showed up for this major international event. Our left-back added another World Championship title (after the 2019 one) to his trophy cabinet and was honoured as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. The statistics speak in his favour, his 48 goals (fifth-highest) and 26 assists making him eleventh most effective player in the combined goals and assists ranking.

Our Danish international was accompanied by his Parisian teammate Ferran, the Spain right-winger also hitting the ground running on the other side of the Mediterranean. With 37 goals scored from 44 attempts, he was the second-most clinical (84%) of the top 15 scorers in the competition. Only Arkadiusz Moryto did better - with 88% - but the Pole only found the back of the net 36 times. The icing on the cake for Ferran was his huge performance - featuring a 4 from 5 - in the 35-29 win over France in the third-place play-off.
