Barcelona-PSG: Old boys' perspective

On Saturday evening, six Paris Saint-Germain Handball players (Viran Morros, Mikkel Hansen, Nikola Karabatic, Rodrigo Corrales, Kamil Syprzak and Gudjon Sigurdsson) will return to their former club, Barcelona, for the Velux EHF Champions League Matchday 5 clash. We spoke to a couple of them.

Viran Morros (Barcelona from 2011 to 2018):
"It will be a special game for me because I will play against my friends and family. I am glad to be able to go back, even though it was not a priority. When the two teams last met, I was on the other side. They're going to be fresher than us and be well prepare for the game. I know their staff and team and I know how they work. It's bound to be a complicated game."

Rodrigo Corrales (Barcelona from 2011 to 2017):
"It'll be nice to go there - if we come back with the victory. Otherwise it'll just be defeat [laughs]. It's an encounter that has a special connotation, because I will play against former teammates and friends with whom I've shared a lot of things. I'm also going to be up against my former coach. I know a lot of people in Barcelona. I came up through the youth academy there... I wasn't born there, but it's a bit like my second family. It makes you want to do the right thing even more. It's obviously special, but all that really matters are the two points. But after the game, I'd be happy to meet my friends again."

Kamil Syprzak (Barcelona from 2015 to 2019):
"We all know that we're going to face one of the best teams in the world... We all expect to have a tough game. That's for sure - they'll have a lot of supporters with them. I think there will be a great atmosphere. But I know that we will be well prepared for this match. I played there for four years, so I'm going to be up against a lot of friends on the other side. But for 60 minutes, I'll ignore all that, and I'll just focus on the meeting. I've watched a lot of their games this season. Their style has not changed since I left: they defend well, always run a lot and set a high pace. The players who arrived this summer have brought even more qualities to this squad."
