Andreas Palicka wins double award
A key figure in the capital club's 23-24 win over Wisla Plock in Poland, Andreas Palicka was honoured by the EHF at the end of an incredible Matchday 3.
After their defeat in Veszprém, Les Rouge et Bleu reacted perfectly against Plock in the Match Of The Week for EHF Champions League Matchday 3 (23-24). Put on the back foot by their Polish hosts after clocking consecutive defeats to open their European campaign, the capital club dug deep in a particularly gruelling final stage. As the Blue and Whites gradually made up ground, Andreas Palicka pulled off a string of saves to keep his side afloat. Solid throughout, with a total of 13 saves at a 48% clip, it was his final save that sent the Les Rouge et Bleu fans into a joyous frenzy. Faced with a penalty from Michal Daszek, right as the final buzzer was set to soiund, our Swedish keeper won his duel in splendid fashion to hand Raul Gonzalez's men victory. It was a feat that earned him the award for Best Save of the week. Named Man of the Match, Andreas was also included in the EHF Best 7 for Matchday 3. A well-deserved first award for Andreas, who is starting this season in the same way as he finished the last one.
