All you need to know about Nancy - PSG Handball

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball return to Liqui Moly StarLigue action after a two-week international break, travelling to the Palais des Sports Jean Weille to face Nancy in their Round 21 clash.

THE TABLE

After beating nearest chasers Nantes in their last Liqui Moly StarLigue outing, Les Rouge et Bleu are now more than ever league leaders, with a nine-point lead over nearest chasers Nantes and Aix the spoils of having won all 20 of their matches so far this seasons.

It will be a clash of extremes, as the capital club tales on the side propping up the Liqui Moly StarLigue. Despite two victories this season, the promoted club are struggling to get off the ground and have tasted defeat 17 times. They have not won a game since 14 October, when they beat Cesson-Rennes 27-25, but with five points to their name, they are only three points behind Saran, who sit just above the relegation zone.

DEFEAT IN THE COUPE

On Wednesday, GNMH took part in the fourth round of the Coupe de France when they hosted Chambéry. After leading by five points early in the second half (34': 22-17), they should have equalise on the buzzer, through Javier Borragan. Unfortunately for him, he came up against an excellent Nikola Portner and Nancy lost out in the ensuing penalty shoot-out (37-38).

THE STATS

In terms of statistics, Paris have the league's best attack with 733 goals scored and will be up against the division's leakiest defence, who have conceded 618 goals (despite an impressive 130 saves from Serbian goalkeeper, Obrad Ivezic). A prolific attack in which Kamil Syprzak has been the driving force with 89 goals.

Nancy's attacking line, which has found the net 537 times, thanks in particular to Tiago Rocha's 84 goals, will face the fifth-best defence in the Liqui Moly StarLigue (559 goals conceded). Vincent Gérard has been a key figure in the team's defence, having saved 153 shots so far this season.

A LOOK BACK AT THE FIRST MATCH

Last December, Nancy and Paris faced each other for the first time in the league. At the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, Les Rouge et Bleu in style (38-26), with Elohim Prandi scoring six times while Yann Genty made 12 saves.
