Lucas Hernandez was born on 14 February 1996, in Marseille, but he quickly moved to Spain with his brother Théo and their mother. He began his career at Rayo Majadahonda at the age of 9. Two years later, he joined the youth academy of Atlético Madrid, where he honed his skills before making his professional debut in 2014. Gradually, Lucas integrated into the squad and experienced his first matches in La Liga, as well as in the UEFA Champions League. During the 2015-2016 season, he notably played in the Champions League final, which Atlético Madrid lost to Real Madrid. He achieved significant success with the Colchoneros, winning the 2018 UEFA Europa League against Olympique de Marseille and the UEFA Super Cup in the same year.
It was an incredibly fruitful season for him as he was also crowned a World Champion with the French national team, playing a central role in securing a second star for Les Bleus. With the French national team, he also won the UEFA Nations League in 2021. In 2019, he joined Bayern Munich, becoming the club's most expensive signing at that time. With the Bavarians, Lucas Hernandez won all possible trophies in 2020, including the Bundesliga, the German Cup, the German Supercup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. After winning three more league titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023, the French international joined Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window of 2023
