Nasser Al-Khelaifi: "A very important match for us"
Check out what Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, coach Luis Enrique, Lucas Hernandez, Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola had to say after the capital club's 3-0 victory over FC Salzburg in UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 action at the Stadion Salzburg on Tuesday 10 December.
NASSER AL-KHELAÏFI
"It was a very important match for us. Victory was a must. An obligation for the players, for us, if we were to keep our hopes of qualifying for the next round alive. Winning 3-0 here feels great! It wasn't easy, that's true, but I think we played well and controlled the whole game, from the first minute to the last."
LUIS ENRIQUE
"To be honest, I don't think this match was any better than the PSV or Atlético Madrid games. No, not at all. But what we showed today was the character and personality needed to play away from home right from the first minute, looking to do our job in the best possible way. It cost us, but in the end we're satisfied because we were able to improve our goal difference and I think we could even have scored a few more goals. Thenks to the supporters, who turned out in numbers and never stopped encouraging us."
LUCAS HERNANDEZ
"We knew how important this match was, that it was pretty much decisive for us in this Champions League campaign. We were focused from the start, and we know that we still have two finals to play in January, so this is just the beginning. I have confidence in this team and the players we have. I see them in matches and in training every day, and even if sometimes the results aren't in our favour, there's an atmosphere, a desire to keep growing, to keep improving every day. We scored three today, but we could have scored more. I think that's the way forward. My coming off the bench? Really, I was happy. I was very proud to be able to get back out on the pitch. It has been a long road, and not an easy one. But I knew from the first day after my operation that I was going to come back quickly, and above all stronger than before. Mentally, I was very serene about the road I had to travel to get back on the pitch, and today I was lucky enough to be able to play again for a few minutes. A lot of hard work went into it, with all the physios, doctors and staff who helped me get back in action. Frankly, I'm very proud and happy. It's also thanks to my family, who have been very close to me throughout all this. It's a great feeling to be back."
BRADLEY BARCOLA
"It's true that we really needed to win this match. The coach put the emphasis on winning, and winning in style. And that's what we did, so that's great. The support of our fans is important, we know they've been behind us from the start. They're right behind us, so to be able to thank them like this is great."
DÉSIRÉ DOuÉ
"My goal? I'm really pleased! I'm very proud and very emotional because the goal was important for me, but also for the staff and my team-mates. They were waiting for it too, so I'm very happy."
