Three goalscorers bring down Bordeaux

Paris Saint-Germain came out on top against Girondins de Bordeaux on Sunday on Machday 28 of Ligue 1, with three different scorers finding the back of the net (3-0)! A look back at the victory.

Despite starting the match with heavy hearts, the objective was clear on Sunday afternoon: bring the season to a close in a professional manner in order to secure a precious 10th league title. It was with a historic clash of French football that Paris Saint-Germain would get back into domestic action, against Girondins de Bordeaux. Mauricio Pochettino made just one change to his starting eleven, with the suspended Verratti replaced by Wijnaldum.

Against the side currently bottom of Ligue 1 and who are in desperate need of points to secure their top-flight survival, our Parisiens knew that the task wasn't going to be simple. And from the get go, David Guion's side gave their all in order to find a way past Marquinhos and co., but Keylor Navas was equal to Hwang's effort (5'), as the counter-attacks stacked up.

Les Rouge et Bleu showed their quality in fits and starts, with Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr and Achraf Hakimi all looking particularly lively. The unstoppable World Champion took it upon himself to get his side started! After receiving an excellent first-time pass from Gini Wijnaldum, Kylian Mbappé struck powerfully at goal and found the back of the net (1-0, 24'). With an agressive Bordeaux side up against them, Les Parisiens looked to sensibly manage their lead heading into the break.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were determined to double their lead after reemerging from the dressing rooms. And they weren't disappointed, with Neymar Jr finishing a super team move (2-0, 52'), that Leo Messi had started and Achraf Hakimi getting the assist. And after several breaks into the Bordeaux box, it was finally Leandro Paredes who was able to beat the visitors' defence and leave Poussin with no chance (3-0, 61'). The final half an hour was perfectly managed by Les Rouge et Bleu who never took their feet off the pedal, including Leo Messi's final chance of the match which was denied by the bar (87').

With a serious performance, our Parisiens have taken a step forward and extended a little further their lead at the top of the league. Next Sunday, the club from the capital will head to the Principality for another clash between two giants of French football.
