Mbappé, at the speed of light

We highlight the sensational stats produced by the club's second-top all-time scorer in the 3-0 win over Bordeaux.

Kylian Mbappé just keeps on producing. The world champion continues to go from strength to strength, week in, week out, With his two goals against Real Madrid, he moved onto 158 goals for the club, the second-highest total by any player ever to pull on the Rouge-et-Bleu shirt.

By going past Zlatan Ibrahimovic (156 goals), Mbappé only has Edinson Cavani (200) ahead of him.  And to get to the total the Paris number 7 now boasts, the Uruguayan needed 20 more games. That just gives you an idea of how quickly Mbappé has raced to his remarkable tally.

He's not only about scoring too. Kylian has been involved in 40 competitive goals this season, and in 25 goals in 25 league appearances, the most stunning stats of any player in the French top flight. To put that into perspective: Kylian Mbappé has been involved in a goal every 75 minutes this season.

"When you look at the numbers, they don't lie. That sums up the impact. It sums up a certain presence, a certain consistency. But there's not only that. To leave your mark on history, there's not only the statistical factor. I think you have to create emotion,"  he told PSG TV in December. Mission accomplished, Kylian. With five goals scored in the last 15 minutes of games this season, the Bondy-born forward has shown his determination right through to the final whistle.

GOALSCORER TURNED GOALMAKER

Kylian has that clinical streak of all natural born goalscorers. His goal against Bordeaux was his 75th at the Parc des Princes for the club, making him the fourth player to reach the mark after Pedro Miguel Pauleta (78), Ibrahimovic (85) and Cavani (110). He's scored no fewer than 14 times at home this season.

But his league-leading 15 goals are not enough for the remarkable striker. "Nowadays, if you want to be a great player, a special player, you have to score and set up others to score, because you're not only making a teammate happy, but it makes you unpredictable. That's also connected to maturity. I've grown and understood that making passes isn't going to stop me scoring goals," Mbappé explained.

He has certainly kept his word, delivering 14 assists in all competitions including 10 in Ligue 1, putting him at the head of the league's assists chart alongside Leo Messi. The Argentine is - with five assists for Mbappé this season - the architect-of-choice for the Frenchman's goals this season. That connection is the most prolific in the top flight.

For all that, for all the goals and assists and incredible milestones, you have to remember that Kylian Mbappé can - aged just 23 - still improve...
