Thomas Tuchel: 'I’ll have a word with the team'

Thomas Tuchel, Moise Kean, Timothée Pembélé and Sergio Rico all give their views on the draw between Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux this Saturday night in matchday 12 of Ligue 1 (2-2).

Thomas Tuchel

“I felt like it was tough, but that was of our own making. We simply stopped playing in the second half, we didn’t stick to our plan and we didn’t work hard enough. We lacked discipline, we didn’t attack or defend well enough, so we deserved to lose one of the halves and two important points in the league table, just like against Monaco. Today it was worse because we were at home and we had three days to recover after the Leipzig game. I don’t understand why this happened and I certainly don’t accept it. I’ll have a word with the team because I’m not happy with that second half at all.”

We had a lot of space and created lots of chances. Unfortunately we didn’t take advantage of that. You learn a lot from games like these. We’re fully focused on Wednesday’s game now and we’ll need to give 100% on the pitch. My goal? Ney had a shot and the keeper parried the ball away. I moved into the right area and I scored. I followed up Ney’s strike and it was tough because I didn’t think the ball would go to the right. But I gambled and hoped I would score and that’s what happened”.

It was my first start in Ligue 1. I started the game well despite my own goal. I kept my head held high and bounced back well. We drew 2-2 and it wasn’t the result we wanted, but I feel like we fought well and played quite well overall. We lacked the killer instinct in front of goal, but from my point of view it went well. As a young defender, starting your first game as a centre back is really hard; it’s a tough position to play in. When you lose the ball it often leads to a big chance or a goal. It shows that the coach has confidence in me.”

Sergio Rico

"We’re a bit sad tonight. We started off well in the first half. We were controlling the game and in the end we conceded the goal that meant we drew the match. We wanted to grab a third goal to take the three points tonight. We have to move on, though, and prepare for Wednesday’s game because it’s a big match. It’s like a final for us and we’ll be 100% focused.”
