Paris Saint-Germain will be playing in the first UEFA Champions League final in its history, and the third in European competition after the Cup Winners' Cup in 1996 and 1997. The capital club will become the fifth French club to play in a UCL final after Reims, Saint-Etienne, Marseille and Monaco. The last time a French side played in the final was in 2004, when Monaco lost 3-0 to Porto.

The return of Mr. "UEFA Champions League"! Spain international Juan Bernat scored his 5th goal in the competition since the beginning of last season, more than any other defender during the period. He scored Les Rouge et Bleu's 3rd goal against the Germans. Prior to that, the Parisian No.14 had scored against Napoli, Liverpool, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Angel Di Maria was omnipresent against Leipzig, making his fifth and sixth assists in the UEFA Champions League this season, more than any other player. This is the very first time the Argentinian international has scored and assisted in the same match in the competition with Paris. An outstanding performance, which earned him the man of the match award.

Paris Saint-Germain have scored in each of their last 34 UEFA Champions League matches, matching the competition record held by Real Madrid (34 between 2011 and 2014). The last time they failed to find the back of the net was in April 2016, when they were held to a goalless draw by Manchester City in the quarter-final second leg (0-1).
