Stats & Facts: the win over Juventus

Match in numbers

The key stats and facts from Paris Saint-Germain's 2-1 victory in their UEFA Champions League opener.

FIRSTS!

Paris came into the game with no wins in eight previous meetings against Juventus. The ninth meeting was the charm for a first-ever victory against the bianconeri, the team they had previously met most without ever winning.

There was also a first for Carlos Soler. After joining from Valencia this summer, the Spain international came off the bench towards the end of the game, becoming the Club's 490th player, and the 11th Spanish star to wear the Rouge-et-Bleu shirt.

Achraf Hakimi recorded his first Champions League assist with Paris in his ninth appearance, teeing up Kylian Mbappé for his second goal of the night.

Mbappé, WOW!

What a brace for Kylian Mbappé! The first from a dreamy lobbed pass by Neymar Jr, and the second after a sharp one-two with Hakimi to mean KM7 has been involved in eight of Paris' last nine Champions League goals (7 scored, 1 assist). Kylian now has 35 Champions League goals aged 23 years and eight months becoming the youngest to reach that milestone, knocking teammate Lionel Messi  (23 years, 10 months in 2011) off top spot.

Mbappé is - as we all know - quick out of the blocks: he's now scored five goals in the first five minutes of a Champions League game, a feat only bettered by Messi (6).

Neymar Jr MAINTAINS MOMENTUM

The Brazilian was again brilliant against Juve, and following his assist for the opening goal, he's now been involved in 15 goals in eight competitive games this season, that's one goal involvement every 32 minutes.

Since they arrived in Paris in 2017, Neymar Jr and Mbappé have tallied a total of 13 assists in the Champions League (8 for the Brazilian, 5 for the Frenchman), that's at least six more than any other duo.
