Stats & facts : A look back at the match in Montpellier

After the Parisians' 4-0 victory at Montpellier on Saturday 14 May at the Stade de la Mosson, here are the key numbers and events from the 37th match day of Ligue 1.

PARIS enjoying their travels

Paris Saint-Germain continues to enjoy its away games. The capital club won its third away match by at least four goals in Ligue 1 this season (5-1 in Lille, 6-1 in Clermont and 4-0 in Montpellier). Paris has never done better in a single season.

Furthermore, this is also the 2nd time in its history that Paris Saint-Germain has scored at least 3 goals in 4 consecutive away games after August-September 2018 (also 4).

NEW HEIGHTS FOR KYLIAN MBAPPÉ

The French international continues to add to his statistics. Kylian Mbappé has been involved in 57 goals in all competitions with Paris this season (36 goals, 21 assists). This is a total that he has never reached in his career and that he will try to improve on in the final match against Metz. By way of comparison, only Karim Benzema has done better in the European top five leagues (59).

Since his first game for Paris in 2017, Mbappé has been involved in 245 goals in all competitions (168 goals, 77 assists), at least 98 more than any other player at the club over the period (Neymar at 147).

He was impressive again last night at the Mosson where he was again a provider (two assists for Leo Messi) and a scorer (for the 4th Parisian goal). The Frenchman has now been involved in 14 goals against Montpellier in Ligue 1 (9 goals, 5 assists), his favourite opponent in the top flight.

MESSI - MBAPPÉ: A POWER DUO

Lionel Messi scored his 10th and 11th goals in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain with a brace on Saturday night (his first in the league), with 6 of those coming from an assist from Kylian Mbappé. Proof, if any were needed, of their understanding on the pitch.

The two men were finding each other with ease and made the Montpellier defence suffer last night by scoring 3 goals and hitting the target 7 times between them. Not lacking in precision, they made between them 8 passes before a shot and as if that was not enough "Kyky" and "Leo" managed 10 dribbles and won 14 duels.

celebrating youth

After Ismaël Gharbi's first appearance last week at the Parc des Princes, special mention this time to Djeidi Gassama, who played his first Ligue 1 match with Paris Saint-Germain, joining two other faces from the academy, Xavi Simons and Edouard Michut.

Saturday 14 May 2022 will remain an important date for the young striker, who usually plays with Papus Camara's U19 team. By stepping on the pitch at La Mosson, Gassama became the 483rd player to wear the Red and Blue colours.
