Stats & Facts: a look back at the win over Monaco
Check out the key stats and facts from Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 win over AS Monaco yesterday in the Trophée des Champions Visit Qatar at Doha’s Stadium 974.
PARIS CONTINUE TO BREAK RECORDS
By beating the principality club yesterday, Paris Saint-Germain lifted the 50th domestic trophy of its history and its 52nd trophy in total, with 34 of these titles coming since the arrival of Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. The capital club has also now won at least one title in each of its last 13 seasons, thereby achieving an unrivalled feat in the European game.
In addition, Les Parisiens haven't lost any of their 18 domestic matches so far this season, during which time they have recorded 13 wins and five draws. In fact, they have maintained a longer unbeaten domestic record at the start of just three previous campaigns: 2018–2019 (no defeats in their first 20 games), 1985–1986 (no defeats in their first 26 games) and 2015–2016 (no defeats in their first 34 games).
MAKING HIS "MARQ" ON FRENCH FOOTBALLING HISTORY
By winning his 31st trophy with Paris Saint-Germain, Les Rouge et Bleu captain Marquinhos has become the most decorated player not only in the history of the capital club but also in the history of French football, overtaking his former teammate Marco Verratti in the process.
DEMBOUZ STRIKES AT THE DEATH
Having already scored a stoppage-time goal against Monaco in Ligue 1 just before the winter break, Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembélé was at it again yesterday, this time to seal the win for his side. Thanks to his strike after 91 minutes and 28 seconds of play, the France international scored the latest winning goal in the Trophée des Champions since Alex's effort to make it 2-1 to Paris after 94 minutes and 30 seconds of the match against Bordeaux in August 2013. The no. 10 has now scored four goals in his last four appearances for the capital club across all competitions.
NUNO MENDES, THE YOUNG CENTURION
Paris defender Nuno Mendes made his 100th competitive appearance for Les Rouge et Bleu in Doha yesterday, and for the occasion, the Portugal international registered his highest-ever number of crosses attempted in one game (11).
