Silva: 'Give everything to win'

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva looks back his team's defeat to Reims and ahead to the Week 8 Ligue 1 clash away to Bordeaux.

Thiago, a home defeat in Ligue 1 is a rare event... what happened?
"Losing matches is part of football. I think it can happen, especially after a couple of big games like we had against Real Madrid and Lyon. Maybe mentally, we were a bit tired. But it can also be a positive thing because you have to learn to manage this situation with calm and also know that you are not invincible. On Wednesday it wasn't enough to just turn up and play. Losing is always difficult, especially at home, in front of our fans and the great atmosphere at the Parc des Princes. It's always tough in the changing room after a loss. We didn't play well and unfortunately we conceded two goals that we don't normally concede. Now we need to step back and think about what we didn't do well to avoid making the same mistakes against Bordeaux on Saturday, and then again against Galatasaray on Tuesday."

How should the team react now?
"Over the course of a season, you always go through rough times. We have lost twice this term. But we bounced back very well after the defeat to Rennes. We showed the right mentality. This home loss motivates us even more. We will give everything out on the pitch to get the win. We know that Bordeaux will be a very tough opponent, but we will give our maximum to get the win, despite the respect we have for this Bordeaux side who have made a good start to the season. We have to show our true colours and play with character. I think we're ready."

On Saturday, you will be up against former Paris youngster Yacine Adli. What do you remember about him?
"I think he's really come on. Playing in a team like Paris Saint-Germain is very difficult, but he always showed the right spirit. He's a good kid and I'm very happy for the progress he's shown with Bordeaux. He just scored two goals and became the youngest player for his club to score a brace. That shows his qualities. To play in Ligue 1 and score goals like that isn't easy. But I hope on Saturday he won't produce a repeat performance."

And you will also be up against your compatriot Pablo…
"He's a good person, very positive and is always happy to work hard. If we talk about Bordeaux and what the team has achieved so far this season, we have to talk about the defensive performances of Pablo. The defence is the foundation for the rest. Bordeaux are playing well because they have good defenders and when things aren't going according to plan, it's Pablo that organises them and gets them back on track. I'm happy to play against him because it's always nice to play against friends."
