Thiago Silva, a heart of Rouge et Bleu

After eight season proudly wearing the Rouge et Bleu and the captain's armband, Thiago Silva leaves Paris Saint-Germain. Passion, determination, professionalism... O Monstro showed all the qualities to make a place for himself in the club's history.

315 matches played, 293 times with the captain’s armband (a club record), Thiago Silva leaves an indelible mark on the history of Paris Saint-Germain. With 25 trophies (7 Ligue 1, 5 Coupe de France, 6 Coupe de la Ligue and 7 Trophée des Champions), the Brazilian boasts a truly remarkable haul of silverware.

Along with Marco Verratti, he also holds the record for the number of Champions League matches played with Paris Saint-Germain with 60 appearances in Europe’s top club competition in Rouge et Bleu.

Thiago also scored nine Ligue 1 goals with Paris and 17 in all competitions. Marquinhos (14) and Maxwell (11) are the only defenders to have scored more during the same period.

It’s impossible to overlook his header at Stamford Bridge on 11 March 2015, that saw Paris qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals at the end of extra-time. It remains one of the great memories of the club’s modern era.

‘O Monstro’ will remain forever etched in the memory of the supporters for his impeccable defending, his respect for the club, its jersey and its colours and his pride at leading the club towards the summit of the world game.

Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi addressed the following message to Thiago: “Thiago, thank you for eight years of unforgettable memories, leadership and commitment. You are one of the greats and your legendary status at PSG will live forever. My very best wishes to you and your family for your new adventures, you will always be part of our family and our history, Merci Captain.”
