Ready for US Orléans - Paris Saint-Germain?

A few hours out from kick-off in the Coupe de la Ligue round of 16 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Orléans at the Stade de la Source, PSG.FR has a few anecdotes and key stats for the clash.

THE MATCH
This will be the third time that Paris Saint-Germain and Orléans do battle in official competition. The first time they met was in the Coupe de France's round of 16 in season 1988-89, with Les Rouge et Bleu crashing out (0-4 on 04/04/1989 at Parc des Princes and 3-3 on 15/04/1989 in Orléans). The teams have also clashed twice in friendly action, with the capital club claiming honours both times (2-1 le 11/11/1981, 3-1 le 11/07/1989).

In the Coupe de la Ligue, Paris Saint-Germain have won five consecutive titles, claiming 20 wins since losing out on penalties to Saint-Etienne in the quarters (0-0 a.e.t., 3-5 on penalties) on 27 November 2012 - an unparalleled run in the competition.

Paris Saint-Germain are also on an outrageous run of 42 consecutive wins in domestic cup competition (24 in the Coupe de France and 18 in the Coupe de la Ligue). The club's last cup defeat dates back to 22 January 2014 against Montpellier (1-2) in the Coupe de France's last 32.

THE PLAYERS
Seven players have played for both sides: Loris Arnaud, Sylvain Bied, Marcel De Falco, Bruno Germain, Yann Lachuer, Gérard Lanthier ad Franck Tanasi. Yohan Demoncy, an Orléans player who came up at the Camp des Loges (but who will be suspended for Tuesday's clash), never played with an official match with Paris' senior team and therefore doesn't make the list above.
With 14 goals scored, Edinson Cavani is Paris' top scorer in the Coupe de la Ligue and is just one goal shy of the competition's record scorer Pedro Miguel Pauleta (15 goals with Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain).

BONUS!
Paris Saint-Germain kick off their Coupe de la Ligue campaign with the ambition of claiming a sixth consecutive title, which would be a record among Europe's top five leagues. The Parisians currently share the record with Celtic FC, who won the Scottish League Cup between 1966 and 1970.
