Paris win the title!

Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens shared the spoils this Saturday evening in matchday 34 of Ligue 1 (1-1), but the club from the capital won the 10th title in its history… Here’s a look back at the evening!

It was written that it would be at the Parc des Princes, where they are simply unbeaten in the league this season, that Paris Saint-Germain would win back the title and continue writing their history. This Saturday evening, everything was in place. First of all, the match was against a formidable opponent, RC Lens, who are chasing a European place. And the starting line-up, as Mauricio Pochettino brought back a number of key players and lined up with a 3-4-3, with a trio that was as exciting in defence as in attack.

Franck Haise's men were as attacking as they were in the first leg, and from the outset they showed that they wanted to press the Parisians hard again, with the ever-present Fofana leading the way.
But after a fairly balanced first quarter of an hour, it was the Parisians who came closer to Jean-Louis Leca's goal, making him feel threatened by the MNM who were back on the pitch. The chances started to come thick and fast, from Neymar Jr (24') to Achraf Hakimi (26'), and Kylian Mbappé (22', 31', 38'), giving our Rouge et Bleu the first few big chances. With no less than 9 shots in this first half, there was no lack of opportunities, now it was a matter of finding the target!

The Parisians' pressure increased as the clock ticked down, especially as the Sang et Or were reduced to ten men after Danso was sent off (57'). Kylian Mbappé's effort was just cleared off the line (53'), while Leca was busy with a Leo Messi free-kick (58'), and Sergio Ramos saw the frame slip away after a superb move (65'). In short, our Rouge et Bleu were close to the breakthrough...

And it was the trio of talents who broke the deadlock! Kylian Mbappé started the move and Neymar Jr played it to Leo Messi, who fired a rocket into the top corner from 25 metres out. (1-0, 67').

But Lens found the strength to react at the end of the game, allowing Jean to snatch a draw (1-1, 88'). And although our Parisians gave everything to regain the lead, it ended in a draw.

Paris Saint-Germain have won the 10th French league title in their history! A milestone that places the club from the capital on top of the hexagon. And while the long chapter of this season has been marked by ups and downs, this trophy will forever remain a landmark in the great history of Paris Saint-Germain. And the season is not over yet. Our 2021-22 French champions will finish their campaign with four more matches, starting with a trip to Strasbourg next Friday.
