Replacing Lassana Diarra in the 70th minute, Moussa Diaby made his competitive debut for Paris Saint-Germain. The France U19 international became the 441st capital club player in history. The match against Caen also saw Ligue 1 debuts for Colin Dagba and Antoine Bernede, and a first league start for Stanley Nsoki.

7 graduates from the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy took part in the match against Caen: Colin Dagba, Stanley Nsoki, Antoine Bernede, Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot, started while Moussa Diaby and Timothy Weah came off the bench. The last time so many youth academy players featured for the capital club was on 2 September 1977, against Valenciennes (2-0). That day Michel Bensoussan, Dominique Lokoli, Thierry Morin, Eric Renaut, Bernard Moraly and François Brisson all started and Lionel Justier came off the bench.

Neymar Jr scored Paris Saint-Germain's first goal of the 2018-19 season - his 20th in 21 top flight matches in France and his 13th in 12 L1 matches at the Parc des Princes. For his part, Angel Di Maria, provided the assist for Adrien Rabiot's goal, and has now scored or assisted 14 goals (8 goals, 6 assists) in his last 14 Ligue 1 matches at the Parc.

After making his official Paris Saint-Germain debut in the Trophée des Champions, Gianluigi Buffon played his first Ligue 1 match in Rouge et Bleu on Sunday. At 40 years and 6 months of age, the Italy international became the oldest ever player for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1!
