Mauricio Pochettino: 'Everyone is committed'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach spoke at his pre-match press conference on Saturday 22 January 2022, on the eve of Matchday 22 of Ligue 1 between Paris Saint-Germain and Stade de Reims.

THE MATCH

"It will definitely be a different match to the first one we played against them. We analyse our opponents, but it is difficult to predict if they will use the same system each time. Every match is a new game. It's in this mindset that we will prepare for every match."

THE DAY-TO-DAY WORK

"lt's important that all the players feel that they have an important role and that they are aware of what we expect from them. We have the time to work because we are only playing once a week at the moment. We are working well which is positive, but what's important is knowing what needs to be done on the pitch. We are a team that likes to play with the ball, and play in an attacking manner. We have worked a lot on our coordination in defence and midfield. We have worked on lots of aspects, it's nice to have the time to do that."

the full-backs

"We play lots of matches and I am very happy to see that our full-back are committed and are working well. We want to use the maximum amount of space when attacking. It's good to see that everyone is committed, that other players are scoring and picking up assists, and that it's not just our forwards."

KYLIAN MBAPPE

"We are happy to see the way that his problem has evolved. He trained with us in the last two sessions, and we will take a decision tomorrow to see if he will be in the squad."

LEO MESSI

"Things have gone very well throughout the week. He trained well, he feels good, and we are very happy to have him back with us. But there was a period of inactivity, and we will need to be vigilant because of that."

the psychology

"I think that everything is important in a team and in its construction. The system, the link-up play across the field. It's the objective of every team. The psychological aspects are part of that, you need to have the right attitude, as well as the right aptitude. It's something that is present in our work across the pitch. But you can't solely focus on that, to the detriment of learning the methodology."
