Mauricio Pochettino: "Every match is important"

On the eve of the Round 27 Ligue 1 game against Dijon, this Saturday February 27 at 17:00 CET, at Stade Gaston Gérard, the Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media. Extracts.

WHAT's AT STAKE

"We are Paris Saint-Germain, and we must be ready. We know that every match is important to us, but also to our opponents, who are always very motivated. Our challenge is to be more consistent in our approach to games. We want to fight for every trophy, in Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League. Our position in the table? That's the reality of things. Of course, we want to win the league and to do that we need to try to win more matches than our rivals in order to finish above them come the end of the season."

AbsentEES

"In a big difference from the match at Barcelona, we lacked freshness and creativity in the final third against Monaco, who also put in a very good match form a defensive point fo view. We have alternatives given the absences of Verratti and Paredes. The players who will be on the pitch will be up to it and we'll find solutions. We have trained and worked on several options for the match against Dijon. We'll decide what the best organisation is in order to win.  Rafinha? He's one of the options."

ACADEMY

"At Tottenham, Southampton and Espanyol, we enjoyed working with young players from the Academy and getting them into the first team. They help in transmitting the identity, the feeling of belonging to a club and its culture. For the moment, with Covid and the Under-19s championship having come to a halt, the relationship with the Academy is difficult. It's difficult with the health bubble. But in the future, it's for certain that we'll want to work hand in hand with the Academy."

Neymar Jr

"He's following the protocols put in place by the medical and performance staff. He was on the pitch today and trained individually. He put in some exercises and he's in a good mood, he's happy. He's up with the schedule for his recovery."
