Mauricio Pochettino: 'A deserved qualification'

Mauricio Pochettino, Leandro Paredes and Kylian Mbappé looked back on Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Montpellier (2-2, 6-5 on penalties) on Wednesday 12 May at the Stade de la Mosson et Mondial 98 in the semi-final of the Coupe de France.

Mauricio Pochettino (Paris Saint-Germain COACH)

"I think we fully deserved to qualify. It's a shame that it went to penalties, but I think the performance was really good. I am happy with the players and overall I think we deserve to be in the final. We should have been more clinical in front of the goal. We created a lot of chances but sometimes, you don't get the luck that you deserve. Now we need to be ready for our Ligue 1 match on Sunday and then look to next Wednesday and the final. For sure it's going to be difficult. We need to see what happens tomorrow, but whatever happens, it's going to be difficult."

Leandro Paredes (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)

"We played in a very difficult match against an opponent that really made things tough for us. We knew that it would be difficult on this pitch. But I think that we put in a good performance. We could have scored mored goals, but the most important thing is that we qualified for the final. That was our objective. We created several chances to put this match to bed, but we didn't convert them. These are parts of the game that we need to improve, but the most important thing is that we qualified for the final. We are in the final of the Coupe de France and we will do all that we can to finish our campaign in the best way possible."

Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain forward)

"We wanted to qualify even though I think we could have done so earlier given the chances we had, but we played well. We didn't play badly, but that's the way it is, we needed to get through on penalties. We are very happy to leave here with the qualification and we are going to be able to defend our title next week. I felt in real form but I tired as the game went by! But yes, I am feeling good. My teammates also made me feel comfortable. They put me in the best conditions possible for me to perform and that's the best thing. We managed to work as a team and perform in this match. The final? It will be an opportunity to lift a second trophy after the Trophée des Champions. There is also Ligue 1, which isn't over. The Coupe de France is a competition that the club really likes. It's important for the supporters, for the club and for us. We will give our all to defend our title and get the win."
