Marquinhos: 'Everyone's ready'

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos spoke to the press ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 clash with Borussia Dortmund at the BVB Stadion Dortmund on Wednesday 13 December (21:00). Excerpts.

PREPARING FOR THE MATCH

"If I didn't think this team had the character to win tomorrow, I wouldn't even be here. We've had a good week's work. We have a very demanding coach. Everyone's ready and excited, it's the kind of game everyone wants to play and do their best for the team. We have our destiny in our own hands."

THE DIFFICULTIES AWAY FROM HOME

"I think it's normal to have more difficulties away from home, as is the case for teams who come to the Parc des Princes. At home, we have our supporters, and away it's the same for the opposition. But I think so far we've also made mistakes concerning small details in our away games."

HIS RETURN FROM INJURY

"Personally, I feel very good. I'm 100% over my injury. I've had time to heal well and prepare for the next few games. I felt good in the match against Nantes. As for Warren (Zaïre-Emery), I think he's doing very well too and not having any problems."

WHAT'S AT STAKE

"We have to use this pressure to motivate ourselves. We've got a match to play, and it's moments like this that we want to experience in our careers. It's a match that can really kick-start our European season. If we play well tomorrow, it could give us a lot of confidence. With our supporters there, we won't be alone. It's a match that's going to come down to details. We're going to have to be fit and focused. That's all we have to think about."

THE LUIS ENRIQUE METHOD

"The coach has his footballing principles, but he also often tells us to play simply when we're in trouble. We're coming to understand his philosophy more and more, and the team is getting to know the coach more and more, and vice versa. Tomorrow, we'll try to do the best we can and bring our personality to bear. We have to analyse each situation to make the right choices and not take any risks. If we have to clear the ball, we'll do it.
