Luis Enrique: 'Win playing our football'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to the assembled media at the traditional pre-match press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Borussia Dortmund:

In the group phase, we failed to win away from home. Since then we have won in San Sebastian and in Barcelona. Tomorrow, this run will continue or stop, but our aim is to win. I know that my team is a brave and courageous team.

We will be playing in a stadium that is unique in Europe and we will be trying to bring as much joy as possible to our fans. I am delighted to be in the situation we find ourselves in today, on the eve of playing a Champions League semi-final.

I think the game will be similar to the quarter-finals. We will be trying to win by playing our football, that there will be goals and it will be entertaining. We will be trying to control the game to try and win it.

I think Vitinha has had a superb season, on par with the very best midfielders in the world. He is a very important player for us. He is very versatile and can play as a number 6, a number 8 or even in a wide role… He is capable of scoring goals and I also feel he has improved defensively.

Since the day I arrived here, I have felt the support of the players and the entire club. We have improved all season and this is only the start of our project. We are still learning and progressing. You mustn’t see pressure as a negative thing. We are getting to the most exciting period of the season. I think we have impressed in every aspect of the game, defence in attack. But we can keep improving. We have to be even more demanding. But there is still everything to do, because the difference between winning and losing in this competition can be the tiniest of details.
