Luis Enrique: 'A different competition'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of the Round of 64 Coupe de France match against US Revel (kick-off on Sunday 7 January at 20:45 at the Stade Pierre Fabre de Castres). Highlights.

COUPE DE FRANCE

"Winning a trophy is positive for everyone at the club. After the Trophée des Champions, we will try to win others during the second part of the season. The Coupe de France is an attractive and legendary competition. It's a different challenge. It's shorter and you can win it in six matches."

REVEL

"They are not a professional team, they compete in an amateur league. They are top of their league. We watched two of Revel's matches, but not at the stadium where we'll play. There is therefore a significant difference, but that doesn't mean they won't pose a threat. If we don't prepare for the match adequately, it could turn into a bad evening. We need to start the competition by respecting the opponent and playing our best game. That's how we approach things, and that's what I've conveyed to the team in recent days. We're treating this match as if it were a league encounter. It will require desire."

TURN OVER

"The Coupe de France is one of our objectives for this season, just like all trophies. We must win this match and approach this competition like any other, understanding the importance of this trophy. We train with young players, we always keep an eye on the Youth Academy. I am open to everything. The risk of injuries? They are part of high-level sports. We cannot prevent that, it's part of a professional footballer's life. The only thing to do is to be in one's best physical and mental shape. It has nothing to do with the fact that it's a team from a lower level. For me, Sunday's match is very important. We aim to go all the way in the Coupe de France, and for that, we must win the first match and play in the best possible conditions."

MILAN SKRINIAR

"Unfortunately, after the match against Toulouse, the doctors ran tests on Milan and determined that he needed an operation. Until this takes place and we see how it goes, we won't know how long he will be out for. It's a shame, like every time a player gets injured. It's a bad piece of news."

MERCATO

"The transfer window ends on the 31st January and we are currently the 6th January. We are always ready to bring in talent to improve our squad. As I've mentioned before, I have a squad that is of a very high level, with two players for each position. I always tell the players who have played more not to relax because those who have played less have the chance to reverse the situation. My goal is to improve every player, even if it's practically impossible. My objective is to motivate all my players."
