Kylian Mbappé: "Everyone has tried to support Sergio"

Read Les Parisiens’ reactions after the final game of the season against Clermont on Matchday 38 of Ligue 1.

Kylian Mbappé

On finishing as the league's top scorer: "I’m really happy. We’ve won the league, and I’ve managed to finish as the top scorer and player of the season again, which is great. Towards the end of the season, once we’d clinched the title, it was an aim of mine, and I’ve reached it. So, I’m happy to go down in history, but I’ve still got next year to beat Jean-Pierre Papin!"

On the game being dedicated to Sergio Rico: "I think that everyone across the world has tried to support Sergio because above being players or belonging to a club, we’re all human beings, and with this, I don’t think there’s any place for club tribalism. Everyone has supported us. Of course, the Parc was extraordinary tonight. People really had him in their thoughts. Now, we just need to pray as much as possible and send him as many good vibes as possible. This situation has affected us throughout the week. In training, it’s all we’ve been thinking and talking about. We’ve been waiting for the slightest bit of news, and we’ll obviously wait for some hopefully positive news to arrive."

Christophe Galtier

“We wanted to send a message of support to Sergio, of course, as well as to his wife, to his mum and to all of his loved ones. Sergio is fighting day after day, and the club has gone about things very well. The fans went about things very well throughout the game. Of course, it ended in defeat. Yesterday, we practically had two further players ruled out, be it Juan Bernat midway through the session or Marqui, our captain, who couldn’t play for long tonight. Somehow, we started quite well, went 2-0 up and then let ourselves go. We made a lot of mistakes defensively. So, it’s a bit of a shame for our last home game, but the main thing is that we’re champions and that we’ve won the club’s 11th title. The players did so with a lot of effort and a lot of professionalism, and no-one should think that they eased off. The second half of the season has been very hard physically and even mentally.”
