Head to Head: Bordeaux vs. Paris Saint-Germain

On the back of 14 straight wins and European triumph, the pressure is on for the Rouge et Bleu to maintain their excellent form in a tricky tie against Bordeaux. We take a look at the two sides' records against each other.

Over the last six matches, Paris Saint-Germain have by far the better swing of things over their rivals from the South of France. Tomorrow's visitors have won five of the last six games with the last stalemate coming back in May 2016.

Since the start of the current campaign, the two clubs' forms have been in stark contrast, the hosts, from 14 games have picked up 17 points, a respectable return that puts them in twelfth place in the table. The club from the capital however can boast a record-breaking 100% record that sees them top the table with 42 points. and a +39 goal difference.

Though Bordeaux have this season struggled with set-pieces, they have proved dangerous on the counter attack, and their pace on the break is something that Thomas Tuchel's men will have to contend with. On the other side, Paris' ability to keep possession and make the most of their goal-scoring opportunities have made them one of the deadliest threats in Europe. After an intense match on Wednesday evening, it's possible the league leaders will rotate, but their impressive strength in depth has been an advantage Paris have enjoyed all season.

The last time the two sides met was at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium in April of last season. Like the upcoming fixture, the two sides met on a Sunday evening and it was Paris Saint-Germain who travelled home victorious with a 1-0 win, the goal coming from Giovani Lo Celso.

Before this encounter, Bordeaux and Paris opened their 2017/2018 battle at the Parc des Princes in what would prove to be one of the highlights of the season. The home side romped to victory in front of their own fans, scoring six goals in the process despite Bordeaux at that point being only one place behind them in second.
