Gigio Donnarumma: "We will give everything to take back the title"

As the final stretch of the Ligue 1 season arrives, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper spoke to PSGTV before the 31st match day against Clermont..

Gigio, it felt as though the group was revitalised during the match against Lorient. How do we manage to bounce back after disappointment in Europe?

Yes, it was hard, it was very hard. We understand the unhappiness of the fans, but we also know that unfortunately this is football. We have to move on and that's we are doing. It's difficult, but in this team there are only great players. We are all sad for the Champions League, but we must also look to the future and finish this season well, give joy back to our fans, by finding the pleasure of playing again, and that is what we are doing. We are training well and working hard. We are ready for this final push, and to give this final moment of joy to our supporters. We mustn't forget that winning back the championship was also our objective and that it is not easy. But we are here, we are united and we are making each other stronger.

Do you have to try to find the positive in all the disappointment?

Absolutely. When you experience a disappointment like that, you're definitely going to try to understand why it happened and from there you're only going to get stronger. I know I'm young, but I also know that this is part of my learning process. That's what we all have to do. We have to become even stronger as a team and move forward. And for the end of this season, think game by game.

Paris is still leading the championship, but you have to keep going until the last game... How is the group feeling?

It's important for us because it's our goal. It would be the 10th title in the history of this club, so it's obviously very important for us to finish well and win it. These are eight decisive matches and we have to take them very seriously. We know that all the matches will be difficult, so we have to be at 100% to win them. There will be a battle until the end but we have to give everything for ourselves, and also for our fans who support us. So it's eight difficult games but we will give everything to take back the title.

Is the pressure building in this final sprint?

Of course. Every match is like a final. But we will give our best to make this season end well. We have the experience in Ligue 1, so we prepare for the game on Saturday in the best way possible, then we will prepare for the following ones, and so on... But we are focused, the coach is giving us the tools to work well, and we are very happy with the attitude that everyone has on the pitch. We are ready for the end of the season.
