a bit of history...

This is the tenth official meeting between the two teams, with a record largely dominated by the Turin side: only one win, 2 draws and 6 defeats for the Rouge et Bleu. Paris won their first match against Juventus (2-1) on 6 September at the Parc des Princes.

The Parisian club have played 10 official matches against Italian clubs in Italy (Brescia, Juventus Turin (4), AC Milan (2), Napoli (2) and Parma), and have won just once, in Napoli (2-0) on 21 October 1992 in the first leg of the UEFA Cup round of 16, drawing four and losing five.

Paris are on a 6-match unbeaten run against Italian clubs in European cups (AC Milan in 2000-2001, Napoli in 2018-2019, Atalanta Bergamo in 2019-2020 and Juventus Turin this season).

12 players have played for both clubs: Nicolas Anelka, Gianluigi Buffon, Kingsley Coman, Dani Alves, Angel Di Maria, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Moses Kean, Blaise Matuidi, Leandro Paredes, Adrien Rabiot, Mohamed Sissoko and Juan Pablo Sorin.

what's at stake...

Paris Saint-Germain, who have already qualified for the UEFA Champions League last 16, travel to Turin to secure top spot in the group ahead of Benfica Lisbon.

Paris and Benfica are now the only two unbeaten teams so far this season, after Napoli's 2-0 defeat at Liverpool yesterday.

The Rouge et Bleu remain on a run of 28 official matches without defeat since the 0-3 in Monaco last season (21 wins and 7 draws). A top 3 run in the club's history, the Rouge et Bleu's record is 37 matches (run from August 1993 to April 1994), followed by the 36-match run from March 2012 to December 2013.

This season, the club from the capital is participating in its 30th European campaign since their European Cup Winners' Cup debut in the 1982-1983 season, and their 11th consecutive season in the UEFA Champions League.

Paris are one of only three European clubs to have always qualified from the Champions League group stage since the 2012-2013 season, along with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain will be playing their 141st UEFA Champions League match against the Turin club (76 wins, 27 draws and 37 defeats). It will also be their 253rd European match*, with a record of 132 wins, 57 draws and 63 defeats.

the keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain will be able to count on their captain Marquinhos, who has made a record 78 appearances in European Cups for the team from the capital, ahead of Marco Verratti (76 European appearances for Paris Saint-Germain).

Having scored 33 goals, Kylian Mbappé is now Paris' top scorer in European competitions, ahead of Edinson Cavani (30 goals).

Paris often find the back of the net in UEFA Champions League group matches: the Parisian club has always scored at least one goal in group stage matches since the 0-0 draw with Real Madrid on 21 October 2015, a run of 43 matches.

Paris Saint-Germain's number 7 is back in a competition he loves: the Parisian player has scored six goals this season in the UEFA Champions League and is second in the scoring charts behind Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah.
