Di Maria: 'I told Cavani I would assist his 200th goal'
Speaking to PSG TV, Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel di Maria looked ahead to the upcoming matches, and back at his cross for Edinson Cavani to score his 200th goal in Rouge et Bleu
Angel, tell us about Edinson Cavani's 200th goal that you provided the cross for...
"I think it was something that sums up my play quite well; to have to ball on the wing, to cut inside onto my left foot. Edi is a very experienced striker with a lot of qualities and he's very good in the air. He looks for the ball at the near post and knows how to make diagonal runs. When I controlled the ball, I saw his run and I gave him the ball in the right place with the right timing. A few days earlier I told him it would be me that provided the assist for his 200th goal and that's what happened and I'm very happy for him."
This Saturday Paris play Dijon at the Parc. What type of match are you expecting?
"Dijon are a team with very good players who know how to play good football and they know what they have to do once they're on the pitch. We lost our first game there this season. When they play a lot of matches, things got tougher for them and we're used to it. That's one reason why we beat them 6-1 in the Cup and we were better prepared playing every three days. But we also know that it will be a difficult match because they play good football."
Next week, there's the semi-final of the Coupe de France away to Lyon...
"It will be a great match of the highest level, a Champions League match, with many good players on the pitch and the prize for the winner will be a place in the final of the Coupe de France which is a real objective of ours this season."
