Christophe Galtier: 'Proud of my squad'

Take a look at the Parisians' reactions after their 2-1 victory over Juventus on Wednesday evening in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

CHRISTOPHE GALTIER

"Of course, we have to value our campaign. We beat Juventus twice, we got 14 points. We scored a lot of goals and in the end we finished second on the number of goals scored away from home. And that's how it is. But obviously I'm still very proud of my group, of my team in this group stage. We had a tough match, we knew we were going to have a difficult match. But we still managed to win. And then there is this scenario that happens in the 92nd minute. Nobody could have imagined that. We knew the rules. We were obviously informed of the scoreline. My two changes were also made in that regard. When I saw that Benfica had just taken the lead in Haifa, we went for the win but unfortunately it wasn't enough. But of course, we are, like Benfica, the only two teams in Europe who have not lost. We played 20 matches, won six, drew four and got fourteen points in the group. We finished second on the number of goals scored away from home. That's incredible. But then there is a draw. We'll wait for the draw calmly and in any case, to go as far as possible, we'll have to beat the big teams. We'll certainly have one of them in the last 16. We'll host first and maybe the team that will draw us won't be very happy after all."

MARQUINHOS

"We're trying to take the positives out of it. There were obviously two feelings, because we won against Juve in a difficult match, but we finished second, whereas the aim was to get this first place. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed. You have to look at the good aspects of things, there are good things to take away from this group stage, even if there are things to improve. In the Champions League, this first phase was important, but it is really played out in the second half of the season. That's when we have to perform well, be decisive, be good, because it's all about the end of the season. I think that in the Champions League, you have to be decisive, even if you're not the best in the match, even if you don't have a good game. We have to be decisive, strong, efficient, both in attack and in defence. We have already seen teams win without necessarily being the best or playing the most beautiful football, but knowing how to be effective. If we manage to be effective in these decisive moments, we can do great things. Today again, even if there were difficult moments in the match, we managed to score and that unlocks a match. So when we win a match like today, even if it wasn't our best game, we have to tell ourselves that it's important to know how to play like that too."

HUGO EKITIKE

"It's true that it was a difficult game, because we were dominated at times, they were in our half. But I think we did the job with this narrow victory. Personally, I came on and tried to bring a lot and especially to be there for the defensive duties, to help the team. That's what the coach asked of me when I came on. So, it was a match where I ran a lot and obviously I didn't have the contribution that I can usually bring by being more on the attacking side. But we did what was necessary and I did what was necessary for the team to win. We have to focus on the next match which is coming up quickly, from Sunday. Of course it's a positive thing, we're still through and there's no need to get frustrated. We did our job and in the next round, no matter which team we play, we will do our job too. For me, this competition is a new experience and it's also where I've played almost all my matches. So to come on in this match, was important to me, in this beautiful stadium, against this great team. And for me, it was a real pleasure. Now we have to keep going. I can't wait to play Champions League matches again."

KYLIAN MBAPPE (CANAL+)

"It doesn't matter, we've qualified. We came to do the job, it wasn't enough. We'll look at the draw and we'll play to win."
