All you need to know about RB Leipzig vs Paris Saint-Germain!

Find out everything you need to know about Tuesday's UEFA Champions League semi-final between Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig:

A little history...

RB Leipzig vs Paris Saint-Germain, Act II! The two teams have already crossed paths on one previous occasion: a friendly match on 18 July, 2014 with a 4-2 home win for the German side. Two Parisian players present in Lisbon participated in that match: Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos.

Only two players have worn the colours of both teams : Jean-Kévin Augustin and Christopher Nkunku.

Paris will participate in its 6th European semi-final, for 2 qualifications for 3 eliminations. Les Rouge et Bleu had not reached the last four in the UEFA Champions League since 1995 and elimination against AC Milan (0-1, 0-2).

Leipzig will become Paris Saint-Germain's sixth German opponent in European competition after Bayern Munich (8 matches), BVB Dortmund (4 matches), Wolfsburg (2 matches), Bayer Leverkusen (2 matches) and Schalke (1 match). Paris have recorded 10 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses in 17 official matches.

Paris Saint-Germain will take part in their 114th UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday, with a record of 62 wins, 22 draws and 29 defeats.

The Parisians will also play their 226th European* match, with a record of 118 wins, 52 draws and 55 defeats.

The stakes...

Paris Saint-Germain is still in the running for an historic quintupling after winning the Champions Trophy, Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. The club from the capital is the only team left in Europe that can still win every trophy. Bayern Munich, having won the Bundesliga and the German Cup, were beaten at the beginning of the season in the German Super Cup (0-2 against Borussia Dortmund on 03/08/2019).

Les Rouge et Bleu will also be keen to continue their fine run in the UEFA Champions League, with at least one goal scored in their last 33 matches since 12 April 2016 and the quarter-final defeat by Manchester City (0-1). The Parisian club is close to the record held by Real Madrid (34 matches with at least 1 goal between 2011 and 2014).

The keys to success...

Paris Saint-Germain will be able to count on their strong defence in Europe this season with only five goals conceded. None of the remaining teams can boast as much in the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich the next best with 8 goals conceded.

Parisian strikers will also be in the spotlight, with 22 goals scored this season in the UEFA Champions League. With 398 goals scored in European competitions*, the capital club could reach the symbolic 400-goal mark this evening (227 in the UEFA Champions League, 66 in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, 103 in the UEFA/UEFA Europa League and two in the European SuperCup).

*These figures include the European SuperCup but not the Intertoto Cup.
