A little history...

It will be the 100th match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon. Only two other clubs have played the capital club more often: Bordeaux (104 matches) and Monaco (101 matches). Paris have historically had the upper hand with 42 wins, 27 draws and 30 losses.

26 players have played for both clubs: Hatem Ben Arfa, Milan Bisevac, Mathieu Bodmer, Luc Borrelli, François Brisson, Jéremy Clement, Grégory Coupet, James Debbah, Vikash Dhorasoo, Jean Djorkaeff, Raymond Domenech, Fabrice Fiorèse, Pierre-Alain Frau, Laurent Fournier, Franck Gava, Ludovic Giuly, Pascal Havet, David Hellebuyck, Christophe Jallet, Gérard Lanthier, Patrice Loko, Peguy Luyindula, Florian Maurice, Bruno Ngotty, Jean-Luc Sassus and Daniel Xuereb. Moussa Dembélé, who never played a first-team match for Paris-Saint-Germain, is not included.

Paris Saint-Germain’s top scorer against Lyon is Edinson Cavani, with 9 goals, followed by Kylian Mbappé (8 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (7 goals) and Mustapha Dahleb (6 goals).

Paris Saint-Germain will be playing a record 20th final at the Stade de France since 1998, with 14 wins and five defeats. Lyon are the second-most frequent side at SDF, nearly three-times less than Les Rouge et Bleu.

The stakes...

With 8 titles in the competition, Paris Saint-Germain is the Coupe de la Ligue record holder ahead of Bordeaux, Marseille and Strasbourg with three wins apiece. Les Parisiens are still on track for a historic quintuple (Trophée des champions, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue, Champions League) and can secure a fourth domestic quadruple in 2020 after 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Paris Saint-Germain will play their 76th match in the Coupe de la Ligue – a competition record for this final edition – since 1995. The club has won 55, drawn five 5 and lost 15, for a win ratio of 72% (a result on penalty shootout is considered a draw).

The keys to success...

Les Parisiens have scored 154 goals against Lyon. Only Saint-Etienne (157) have conceded more goals against Paris than Les Gones.

With 13 scored in three matches this term, Paris can equal their record for the most prolific attack in a Coupe de la Ligue season which stands at 14 goals in the 2007-08 (five matches played).

Mauro Icardi is the only Paris Saint-Germain to score a hat-trick in the Coupe de la Ligue when he netted a triple against Saint-Etienne (6-1) in the quarter-finals on 8 January this year. These three goals also make him the top scorer in the Coupe de la Ligue 2019-20 alongside Lille’s Loïc Rémy, Nantes’ Moses Simon and Bourg-en-Bresse’s Livio Nabab.
