the scenARIO

After defeats to Girona (0-2) and Arsenal (0-1) and a spectacular draw with PSV Eindhoven (3-3), the young Parisians were looking for a first win of the European campaign against their unbeaten Spanish visitors.

The hosts' determination was clear from the off as they dominated, and created the first scoring opportunity through Ibrahim Mbaye, whose crisp shot forced goalkeeper Diego Diaz into a good save. When their opponents gave away a well positioned free-kick, Mahamadou Sangaré took advantage to open the scoring (1-0, 18')

He then doubled his team's lead with his second of the game after good work from David Boly and Ibrahim Mbaye (2-0, 31') before displaying his clinical streak once again to complete his hat-trick with barely half-an-hour on the clock (36', 3-0). Having teed up Sangaré earlier, Mbaye then found the net himself to give the hosts  an impressive first-half lead (45', 4-0).

Unsurprisingly, their Spanish opponents came out for the second half with a determination to improve their situation, making a triple change and a tactical switch. They pulled one back with a long-range effort (50', 4-1) but the Parisians held firm and stayed on the front foot.

Playing with real menace on the counter-attack, the hosts sought to restore their four-goal advantage. Instead, their opponents pulled one back late on (88', 4-2) but never looked likely to deny Paris Saint-Germain a first UEFA Youth League win of the season and give a boost to their chances of qualifying for the knockout phase.
