At the magnificent infrastructures ideally located in Belek (Antalya), 36 children from the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Russia came to join 65 of their Turkish friends, for a week-long training camp. Many parents, dressed in Rouge et Bleu for the occasion, also made the trip to encourage their children.
The Russian delegation arrived three days before the official opening ceremony of the camp and took the opportunity to organise intensive training sessions twice a day, based on the methodology of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, as well as physical exercises in view of the upcoming tournaments that will take place in Russia in the spring. The Paris Saint-Germain Academy Russia, renowned for its work on goalkeepers, had also developed a specific programme for their young goalkeepers during this camp.
6 April marked the beginning of this wonderful "Summer Camp" in Antalya.
Nihat Ugurlu and Denis Maryenko, respectively Directors of the Turkish and Russian Academies, gave an opening speech to parents and children. Pierre-Yves Bodineau, Technical Manager of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, was also present to supervise this unique camp. He took the opportunity to give an update on the club's vision for teaching its methodology and to present to all the technical teams what he expected from this camp.
The "Summer Camp" started with fun, greetings and music performances, in the Turkish tradition. Then the teams of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Russia and the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Turkey trained together on the natural grass main field.
During this training camp, 3 friendly matches were played between the two Academies of the club, in a joyful and good spirit. This was an opportunity for the two teams to test themselves in view of the next edition of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy World Cup, which will take place in May 2022 in Paris.
Denis Maryenko was very satisfied with this experience in Turkey: "In these difficult times of a global pandemic, we are especially happy to have found an opportunity to have our team travel abroad, here to Turkey. The welcome we received from our colleagues at the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Turkey was very warm, and we thank them for that. It is a great honour to have participated in this first joint training camp between two academies of the club. It is a strong example of the link we want to establish with all the Paris Saint-Germain Academies around the world. In this way, we show that we are all members of the big Rouge et Bleu family. Paris is present wherever we are: in Moscow or Istanbul, in Florida or Brazil, in Qatar or Cairo. – Ici C’est Paris!
At the end of the camp, each child left with a medal and a diploma, but above all with the memory of a very enriching experience. All the participants lived up to the very professional organisation of this course, and showed a lot of seriousness and application.
Pierre-Yves Bodineau declared: "I would like to thank Hamza Gezmiş, National Technical Director of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy in Turkey, and the professionalism of his staff, both for the quality of the organisation and the atmosphere of this camp. Our coaches really have this attention to detail, which allows us to offer participants of all ages a high level course to help them progress. The objective of this type of gathering is to promote the values and know-how of Paris Saint-Germain in terms of coaching young players. The young people, some of whom came from very far away, were able to respect and take advantage of this opportunity. The meeting between our Turkish and Russian Academies in Antalya was an extraordinary moment! Above all, it is to see this feeling of belonging to the Paris Saint-Germain family develop thousands of kilometres away from Paris that particularly touches me. Together we are invincible!"
