U19s win away to Newcastle

Paris Saint-Germain's U19 team defeated Newcastle United FC 1-0 in UEFA Youth League Matchday 2 action at Gateshead International Stadium on Tuesday. Here's a look back at the match.

THE STARTING XI

Mouquet, Gadou, Bagbonon, El Hannach, Zague, Mayulu, E. Mbappé, Cordier, Michut, Bensoula (Mendy, 77'), Camara (Ardjani, 62').

Zoumana Camara's men played a 3-4-3 formation against an English side operating in a traditional 4-4-2. And right from the start, the Newcastle players showed their intent by forcing Louis Mouquet into action. The Parisians reacted almost immediately, with Senny Mayulu leading their attack before Ethan Mbappé had a chance - but to no avail. After a lively end to the first half, both teams went into the break yet to open their account.

In the second half, Camara and then Bagbonon tried to break down the opposition defence, but Aidan Harris proved impervious. After the hour-mark Les Rouge et Bleu gradually tightened their grip on the match. There were more and more corners for Paris, but the home side managed to hold the visitors at bay - but only until the final moments of the game, when Thomas Cordier delivered the Parisians with a powerful left-footed shot that sailed in under the bar (0-1, 90'+1)! With heart - and with guts - the Paris Saint-Germain U19s won a dramatic late victory on English soil.
