The Paris Saint-Germain Academy flourishing in South Korea

The Paris Saint-Germain Academy opened its doors in the Asian nation in October, 2021.

The new Academy is run by Miragro Box, an experienced partner in the sports world and renowned for the quality of its sports schools.

Over several months, each coach has been trained in Paris Saint-Germain's training methods in order to guarantee quality instruction for local youngsters joining the academies. The training sessions, devised by the club's Technical Department, have been adapted to the needs of each player.

In the space of a few months, five Paris Saint-Germain Academies have been opened in four different cities (Seoul, Goyang, Gimpo and Cheongju) welcoming more than 500 youngsters. Depending on age and ability, each centre proposes a different training model best-suited to each player. There's small-sided games on covered pitches for the youngest through to competitive 11-a-side matches in local leagues for others.

Its launch has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Korea is ready to unveil its latest ambitious project: the construction of an Academy with four 6x6 pitches on the Gimpo Tower roof, which will come on-line in May 2022.

Benjamin Houri, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Technical Director, was impressed on a visit to Seoul: "The Paris Saint-Germain Academy Korea's infrastructure is good and modern. All the members of staff are passionate, highly motivated to learn new methods, and proud to wear our colours. I have rarely seen such an appetite for working, both in terms of volume and commitment. The short-term aim is to become the best academy in the country and give young Korean footballers an experience that is both professional and fun. We couldn't hope to find a better partner in pursuing that goal."
