The first Paris Saint-Germain Academy Cup USA is a success

The very first edition of the PSG Academy Cup USA took place from January 29 to January 30, 2022 in the United States, Miami. Bringing together 22 teams from all over the country, from Miami to Los Angeles, including Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix and Houston, the competition took place in unusually cold weather for Miami, warmed by the exceptional enthusiasm of the teams.

Aged from 9 to 14 years old, the children played this first edition in a friendly atmosphere but where the competitive spirit was also very present. For this first PSG Academy tournament in the United States, three teams stood out. In the U11 category, the "Thiago Motta" team from Miami took the trophy. In the U13 category, the "Neymar" team from Miami won the award, while in the U15 category, the "Icardi" team from Phoenix won.

 

 

Benjamin Houri, Technical Director of the PSG Academy, said, "The competition was organised in the best conditions for the players to progress and have fun. I could see great talents in different places, which shows that the coaches work very well all year long. Even though there was a lot of competition over the long weekend, the atmosphere proves that we are all part of one big family. I can't wait to see these players come to Paris for the Academy World Cup."

During this tournament, the PSG Academy North America also had the opportunity to select the 22 best players in each category to form the future PSG Academy USA teams that will come to Paris next May to compete in the PSG Academy World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain now has 12 PSG Academy sites in the United States, spread over 5 cities (Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale).
